Welcome to the November edition of the blog!

FINALLY! Our booking site has landed!

Our new website was launched a couple of months ago, but I didn’t shout about it too much as the online booking part wasn’t ready yet. It’s been a long time coming as it proved to be quite a tricky thing, but it is now up and running! And to celebrate, we are offering a 15% discount with the promo code Online15 until the end of December!

November has been a month of learning

The last few weeks have been quite exciting for me as I am now enrolled as a student at the School for Social Entrepreneurs. I’ve been awarded a grant to help support and develop the coworking space and I’m taking part in a business course to make sure that the money is spent in ways that genuinely benefit the community. One of the items I am exploring is a confidential booth, which would allow more people to use the space for private calls and meetings. I’ll share updates as this progresses.

Cover whilst I’m away

At the beginning of December, I’ll be away for a week and during that time Stuart will be here as my trusty substitute. He will be available on the usual number 07355 263028 to take bookings, let people in and out of the building and answer any queries. Stuart is currently working hard on his Sports Rehabilitation dissertation so has kindly offered to work here so that I can nip off for a bit of winter sunshine!

A warm space

With fuel bills set to rise again from January, working from home can put a strain on the household finances if you need to keep the heating on during the day. Our office is kept at 20c and is a lovely, pleasant environment in which to work, plus we have free coffee and biscuits to keep to fuelled all day long!

Monthly Business surgery

Our monthly business surgery continues to be very helpful for individuals and small businesses seeking advice on grants and general support. We’re working with the East Midlands Chamber who visit once a month to offer free one-to-one guidance. The next session will be January 20th, 2026, if you would like to be added to the list, please get in touch.

Master your mobile- Digital Inclusion Day

We also run a monthly session in partnership with PC Refurb from Glossop. These sessions are for anyone who wants to feel more confident with using their smartphone, laptop or computer. The one to one appointments are free, and people are welcome to attend as many times as they need.

Right now, we are focusing on helping people get setup with the NHS App which provides access to hospital letters, test results, appointments and prescription requests. With the ongoing issues around postal delays, the app is a reliable way to ensure people receive essential information on time. Our next date is January 29th, 2026, so do get in touch if you or someone you now would like to book in. Also watch out for an event advertised by Goyt Valley Medical Practice-we are going to be working with them to help get the NHLook out forS App to as many people as possible, and ensure they know how to use it!

Cyber Security Surgery

Our cyber security expert Ian has recently retired from working in industry and with the Police and has kindly volunteered his time to help people make sure that their device is protected and that your passwords and security measures are robust enough to prevent hackers from attacking you. We are hoping to get him back in January too, so again, let us know if you are interested in having a chat with him.

In the New Year we will also be running a CV Workshop, delivered by Mark Wilcox MBA MSc BSc FCIPD MBPsS, retired Director of Change Capabilities and experienced author. This is a face-to-face half-day session aimed at anyone returning to work or finding employment challenging, with practical support on improving your CV, preparing for interviews and navigating modern job applications. This session would normally cost around £65, but we are offering it for just £30, with a reduced rate of £5 for those who are unemployed or experiencing financial difficulties. Please just let us know if you’d prefer the concession rate, this is a friendly, supportive environment and we want people to attend without barriers. There will be a maximum of 6 people on the course and Mark has kindly offered to run it more than once if there is demand.

Please contact me on 07355 263028 if you wish to reserve a place, full details including the date will be available soon.
